ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION CLASSROOM

New Orleans, LA – Broadmoor, LLC provided the construction of a new facility to be installed in the Lower Ninth Ward neighborhood on display at the Greenbuild 2014 International Conference and Expo held in New Orleans.   Called the Environment Education Classroom, the facility was designed and constructed for the Lower 9th Ward Center for Sustainable Engagement and Development (CSED). Visit: www.sustainthenine.org.

Designed by Eskew+Dumez+Ripple Architects, www.eskewdumezripple.com, the project is a learning facility for water resources and much more. The facility serves several functions: as an education center to teach K-12 students about water quality, water conservation, and storm water control; as a community meeting space; and as an occasional laboratory for water research by visiting university students. All of this was accomplished within a footprint of 14 X 40 feet.

The construction of the structure was provided by Broadmoor at the our main offices in Metairie, LA, with the help of many product and services contributors. The EEC was transported to the Green Build 2014 International Conference and Expo held at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center where construction was completed inside of the exhibition hall. After the Expo the Environmental Education Classroom will be placed permanently in the Ninth Ward neighborhood as a public service facility.

Greenbuild is the premier event for sustainable building. The event features many keynote speakers, networking opportunities, product showcases, LEED workshops and tours of green buildings in New Orleans. For more information visit: www.greenbuildexpo.com.
